The message of the gospel is one of joy and gladness, and were it universally

understood and received this world would be no longer a wilderness, but it would

rejoice and blossom as the rose. Let grace reign in all hearts, and this earth will

become a temple filled with perpetual song: and even the trials of life will become

causes of the highest joy, so beautifully described by James as “all joy,”

2“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers tempttions.

3 “Knowing this,  that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”  ὑπομονή -

hupomonae - patience, perserverance, persistance.

4 “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect τέλειοι - teleioi -

having reached its end, finished, complete, perfect - and entire,

wanting nothing.”  Let perseverance have its intended effect, that you

may be perfect and fully constituted, lacking in nothing.  I do not know

what your end is to be as a piece of workmanship by God, but I do know that

He did not want, plan or for your body or soul to be aborted.

                                                Ode to Two Faces

On the last day of April,  2020, I decided to have some fun in the sun,

for it seemed during the Corona Virus Pandemic I had been quarantined

days too many!

I figured the fresh Kentucky air would do me good and

into the South Christian uplands from the Little River I strode

to seek the remnants of a trans-Atlantic technology, which lies

on the surface of cultivated fields, shining pristinely!

I had been there an hour or so, little chips picking up here and there.

I began to think that because of “no-till” farming methods, nothing today

would show.

When to my surprise in the next row, there before my feet,

lay an early stage Clovis biface, incomplete.

I picked it up like hundreds before, but this time was different

as it put me to thinking, in ways modern man normally doesn’t

and from another angle I started to ponder.

Of another face, like this, so marred, not by the hand of an Ice Age napper,

but the face and body of a child deformed by a pseudo-doctor of a modern slant.

For both you see, biface and babe were destined for perfect symmetry,

until the knapper made a mistake, and the piece aborted, while the

Doc cutting up the baby had purpose in the marring he was doing.

Had things gone as designed both were destined for a perfect plan,

the biface for hunting megafauna and the child to become a full grown,

productive man.

When I came home after my therapeutic jaunt, the first thing I noticed

blooming in my yard was a flower of clematis bent.  The comparison was

made of biface and flower with a child’s face in the background of my mind,

and I thought how true the words of John Greenleaf Whittier:

“Of all the words of tongue or pen,

                                the saddest are these

                              ‘It might have been!’”

There on their faces it was plain to see, the potential in both.

On the rock were four to five outre passe flakes on the obverse

and one large successful lateral overshot flake on the reverse.

It was on Facebook this week I saw the face of a babe,

all contorted by forceps  the Doc had wielded, and

covered up with blood, the child was disguised.   For whatever reason,

the ploy did not work.  Anyone with common sense could see

the hurt displayed on the face of the once distressed child.

Whether outre passecame from France or Spain, it doesn’t matter.

for those who think they know, it has originated a lot of archaeological

chatter.

How different the “life or death situation” of a planned and cruel abortion

by the Doc and those who support him, who have uncommon with the earthly

doomed child, A DOOM OF ETERNAL JUDGMENT threatened, and on this

earth are a lot more similar to this artifact of stone than they realize,  who are

COLD and have NO HEART!

Perhaps if from an unfamiliar personal view, one could see as in the stone depicted,

at least a concept about what  I am talking.  Both stone and babe, the flower included,

are works of art so gloriously created and with the proverbial “open mind”one thinks

he has, you might could see in the development of the embryo in the womb, and take

for what it is,

“A human like yourself, made in the image of God!”

And if you will not, it seems to me, if you will but reflect,

there is a danger of a tragedy worse than these two faces,

something much more IRREPREHENSIVELY INCOMPREHENSIBLE,

                                    The Abortion of the Soul!”

I will reiterate the idea that that God when He created you, never, has, never will,

want you to suffer the abortion of the soul!

Point I -

“By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:  it is the gift

of God:  Not of works lest any man should boast.  For we are His workmanship

in Christ Jesus unto good works; which God hath before ordained that we should

walk in them.”  (Ephesians 2:8-10)

“That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in

His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”  (ibid. v. 7)

Point II -  Concerning the followers of the anti-Christ:

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship Him,  whose names are not

written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

(Revelation 13:8)

We are able in sober earnest to speak with the afflicted, and bid them be patient under

the chastening hand of God; yea, to count it all joy when they fall into divers trials

because those trials will work out for them such signal, such lasting good. They

may be well content to sow in tears since they are sure to reap in joy.

III. GOD IN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE WORLD WORKS

THROUGHOUT FOR THE HIGHEST GOOD OF NATIONS. His object

is to bring all men everywhere to serve Him. He would have them, through

the power of Christ, be enlightened, sanctified, and blessed. It is true of

nations as of individuals, “The nation that will not serve Him shall perish,

yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.”(Isaiah 60:12). It is as nations forget

God that they decline and fall. “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all

nations that forget God.”  (Psalm 9:17)  It is as nations become penetrated and ruled

by Divine truth that they become truly free and strong and prosperous.

I. GOD’S WORD PROMISES BLESSING IN WHICH ALL NATIONS

ARE TO SHARE. This wondrous chain of promises, stretching across,

thousands of years, holds out a hope which has no root but in the Bible —

the universal equal happiness of all nations of mankind. Men may discard

the Bible, and yet cling, in the name of progress and civilization, to this

splendid hope. But whence did it spring? National happiness or welfare, or,

in the strong Bible word, “blessedness,” depends on six things:

Ø      justice,

Ø      freedom,

Ø      virtue,

Ø      knowledge,

Ø      distribution of wealth,

Ø      peace (“Happy is that people, that is in such a case:  yea happy is

that people, whose God is the Lord.”  Psalm 144:15).

1. Justice is the first office and object of government (Romans 13:1-5),

the first condition of national welfare (Deuteronomy 4:8-9). Great

Charters, Petitions of Right, Declarations of Independence, and the like,

are the outcry of oppressed peoples for this prime necessity of national life.

2. Freedom is really implied in justice, the only real guardian of right and

nurse of true virtue.

3. Virtue is no less essential to real national happiness and greatness.

Fraud, intemperance, impurity, covetous greed, wild love of pleasure,

sloth, cowardice, suck the vitals and sap the roots of national life.

4. Knowledge is the parent of all progress. Not mere labor, but wisely

directed labor, is the source of wealth. The mind that invents and foresees

must guide the hand which toils.

5. Right distribution of wealth is the most urgent national problem of our

own day in our own and all civilized nations. No nation is blessed in which

immense wealth stagnates in a few hands, and the toiling millions are

wretched and joyless.

6. Peace is the fence and crown of all the other elements of national

welfare. War is a short name for all calamities, cruelest of misfortunes, if

necessary and just; if unjust, avoidable, the greatest of crimes.

1) God has provided for nothing less. What the gospel effects on a small

scale it is equally fitted to effect on the largest scale. What Jesus Christ is

actually doing for every sinner who believes in Him, every disciple who truly

follows Him, He is able to do for mankind.

Where the gospel of Christ comes, there is life. The mind that

before was dark has the life of truth; the conscience that before was

dormant has the life of righteousness; the heart that before was dead in sins

is quickened to the new life of love and holiness. Christ’s rule ever tends to

the well being of His people.

I. THE GREATNESS OF THE SOVEREIGN. David and Solomon were

in some respects great kings; and their greatness, so far as it was real, arose

from their feeling their dependence upon God, and that it was their first

duty to rule themselves and their people according to God’s Law. We

know how in many things they offended. But here is a King spoken of

whose greatness is of a nobler kind, and who comes short in nothing of

God’s glory. As respects His nature, His character, His relationships, He is

supremely fitted to rule. In Him “righteousness” and “judgment” are found

as in God. The will of God, on the one hand, and the welfare of His people

are His highest ends. “God is light;” and this King saith, “I am the Light of

the world.” “God is love;” and this King’s advent was proclaimed by

angels as the Saviour who should bring down love to men: “Glory to God

in the highest, peace on earth, good will to the children of men.”

II. THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE ADMINISTRATION. (vs. 2-4.)

David, in his last words, describes Messiah’s manner of government (II

Samuel 23:1-4). (Greatest words spoken of God - saddest of man) It is

characterized by justice; there is no respect of

persons; friends are not unduly favored, nor enemies unfairly punished

(Isaiah 11:4-5); the condition and interests of all are considered, and

the poor are specially regarded; but justice is blended with mercy. It is the

glory of Christ’s government that it provides for the return of the

rebellious, and for the restoration of the fallen.

The Glory of Christ’s Kingdom (vs. 1-20)

It is written that Satan took our Lord “up into an exceeding high mountain,

and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them”

(Matthew 4:8); but they had no charm, for Him. In this psalm we are, so

to speak, taken up by the Spirit, and shown the kingdom of Messiah; and

as its glory opens to our sight our hearts are thrilled with admiration and

delight. With renewed ardor we cry, “Thy kingdom come.” Consider

some things testified here as to the glory of Christ’s kingdom.

It is characterized by justice; there is no respect of

persons; friends are not unduly favored, nor enemies unfairly punished

(Isaiah 11:4-5); the condition and interests of all are considered, and

the poor are specially regarded; but justice is blended with mercy. It is the

glory of Christ’s government that it provides for the return of the

rebellious, and for the restoration of the fallen.

III. THE HAPPINESS OF THE PEOPLE. (vs. 6-7.) The laws of the

kingdom are not only adapted to the nature and necessities of man, but

designed for the welfare of those who obey them (Deuteronomy 32:47;

Isaiah 48:18-19; Psalm 81 13-16); they are not arbitrary, but, founded in truth;

they are notalterable, but eternally fixed. Earthly governments so far regulate

their laws according to circumstances, and there may be improvements made and

reforms carried out from time to time for the greater advantage of the

people; but the laws of this kingdom do not need improvementthey are

perfect as God is perfect. We see the result in the character and privileges

of the people (Isaiah 43:21; Matthew 5:1-10). They are

enlightened, contented, law-abiding; they strive to mold their lives

according to the will of their King, and in loyalty and devotion to Him they

find their highest honour and their highest happiness. In this kingdom alone

can liberty, equality, and fraternity, in the truest sense, be enjoyed.

IV. THE FUTURE TRIUMPHS THAT MAY BE CONFIDENTLY

EXPECTED. This kingdom is destined to grow from more to more; it has

an unlimited power of expansiveness (vs. 8, 13); it is also marked by

STABILITY.   Earthly kingdoms have their rise and fall; but THIS KINGDOM

IS UNSHAKEABLE AND ETERNAL!   It begins on earth, but is carried up to

heaven. Other kings may have successors, though often the direct succession fails;

but this King has no successor, but will reign forever and ever.
