The Bible reveals:

  • “the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into

his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” – (Genesis 2:7)

  • man is “fearfully and wonderfully made” – (Psalm 139:14)

  • “God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions”

(Ecclesiastes 7:29)  The Lord has basically a patent on man and the Bible

      is His Owner’s Manual

  • “the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden

thou mayest freely eat:  but of the tree of the knowledge of good and

evil, thou shalt not eat of it:  for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou

      shalt surely die.”

ü      This disobedience (sin) has brought about three deaths:

Ø      immediate spiritual death – “the day …thou shalt surely die”

Ø      a gradual physical death – “sin when it is finished bringeth

      forth death”  (James 1:15)

Ø      an eternal death – apart from God in hell

·        The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the

father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the

righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the

wicked shall be upon him.  But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that

he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful

and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.  All his transgressions that

he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his

righteousness that he hath done he shall live.  Have I any pleasure at all

that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should

return from his ways, and live? …………. Therefore I will judge you, O

house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD.

Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall

not be your ruin.  Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye

have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why

will ye die, O house of Israel?  For I have no pleasure in the death of him

that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.”

            (Ezekiel 18:20-23,30-32)

  • “The grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men” –

      (Titus 2:10)

  • I would like to emphasize:God requires that which is past.  (Ecclesiastes 3:15)

  • “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that

whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”

      – (John 3:16)

  • That Jesus Christ was with the Father at the creation of the world, that

all things were made by Him, and without Him was not any thing made

            that was made.”  (John 1:1-3)

  • That before the world or man was created that God and Christ knew that

Christ would have to die to save man!  In other words, the PLAN OF

SALVATION  was intact before anything else was done and in the fullness

of time, Christ came into the world, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life,

and died on the cross for you and me and fulfilled that which was

scheduled from eternity past!  (Revelation 13:8, 17:8)

  • That Jesus Christ was/is/always shall be the brightness of God’s glory

and the EXPRESS IMAGE of His Person…..and “by HIMSELF purged

our sins” – (Hebrews 1:1-3)  He did this on the cross for you and me!

      (Ephesians 2:13-16)

  • “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself……for he hath

made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made

the righteousness of God in Him.”  (II Corinthians 5:19,21)

  • That when Christ died for our sins, God raised Him from the dead to

deliver us all and “He has appointed a day, in the which He will judge

      the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained;

whereof He hath given ASSURANCE UNTO ALL MEN, in that He

has raised Him from the dead” – (Acts 17:31)

  • There are two Divine imperatives mentioned in the Bible:

ü      “ye must be born again” – (John 3:7)

ü      “we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ”

      (Romans 14:10)

  • Therefore, it is important that we have a representative at that

judgment  - “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,

Jesus Christ the righteous” – (I John 2:1)

Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find;

knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  for every one that asketh

receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh

it shall be opened” – (Matthew 7:7-8)

Jesus said, “Him that cometh to me I shall in no wise cast out” – (John 6:37)

This is a gospel for sinners. It is they who need a gospel, sunk as they are in sin,

exposed as they are to condemnation and destruction. This is a gospel for you.

(This is a gospel for me – CY – 2009)   Whoever you are, you need it; and, in your

heart of hearts, you are well aware that it is so. God sent His Son that you might

be saved. Christ gave Himself for you. Unto you is the word of salvation sent.

Christ has suffered that you might escape, has died that you might live. In Him

there is for you pardon for the past and strength for the present and hope for the

future. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” This is a

gospel from God. Only He could send news adapted to the case of sinners, and

He has sent such news. Here is the expression of His deepest sympathy, His

tenderest solicitude, His most Fatherly love. Coming from Him, the gospel cannot

be an illusion; it may be trusted. It is the wisdom of God and the power of God

(I Corinthians 1:24) unto salvation. Yet, what is this gospel to those who believe not?

Good news to  those who reject it is all the same as bad news. There is every

reason, every motive, for believing it. Christ will be glorified, God will be rejoiced,

angels will sympathize and sing with gladness, (Luke 15:10) and YOU WILL BE

SAVED!  The gospel is worthy of belief in itself, and IT IS EXACTLY AND

Reader, will you not trust Jesus todayToday is the Day of Salvation

yesterdays are gone for ever and tomorrows never come!  “Wherefore

as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not

your hearts”.  (Hebrews 3:7-8) TRUST JESUS TODAY!  “Neither is

there salvation in any other:  for there is none other name under heaven

given among men, whereby we must be saved”.  (Acts 4:12)

Billy Graham said in his column today in our local paper (November 23, 2009)

“Why is Christ essential for our salvation?  First, because of who He was.  He

was God in human flesh, sent into the world to save us from our sins.  Second,

because of what He did.  By His death, Christ became the final sacrifice for

our sins and when we commit our lives to Him, God forgives all our sins.

“Christ died for sins once for all… bring you to God” – (I Peter 3:18)

By a simple prayer of faith ask Christ to come into your life and He will!

Then seek out a church where the Bible is taught and preached so your

faith can be strengthened”.

(the following I got of the world wide web and is from CONTENDER

The ROMANS a pathway you can walk.

It is a group of Bible verses from the book of Romans in the New Testament.

If you walk down this road you will end up understanding how to be saved.

Romans 3:23  "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.

We were born under the power of sin's control.

- Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a  "...The wages of sin is death..."

Sin has an ending.  It results in death.  We all face physical death, which

is a result of sin.  But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from

God, and will last for all eternity.  The Bible teaches that there is a place

called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever.   It is the

place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.

- Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23b  "...But the gift of God is eternal

life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Salvation is a free gift from God to you!  You can't

earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.

- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Romans 5:8,  "God demonstrates His own love for us, in

that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!"

When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin,

and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us

out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and

what He has done for us, understanding that  we are now joined with Him, and that

He is our life.  He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!

- Give your life to God... His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only

hope to have forgiveness and change.  His love bought you out of being a slave

to sin.  His love is what saves you --  not religion, or church membership.

 God loves you!

Romans 10:13  "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord  will be saved!"

- Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9,10  "...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe

in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with

the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he

confesses, resulting  in salvation."

- If you know that God is knocking on your heart's door,

ask Him to come into your heart.

Jesus said,

Revelation 3:20a "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears

My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him..."

- Is Jesus knocking on your heart's door?

  Believe in Him.

Ask Him to come in to your heart  by faith,

and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

Open the Bible to the Gospel of John and read what God says about Jesus,

about you, and about being born again.

God will help you.  He loves you.

You need to look for a local church where

God's word is preached.  The Bible says that we are to desire

God's word like a newborn baby desires mother's milk.

Aren't you hungry to know the truth?

Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that

you have been joined to Jesus.  This is an action, and actions will not save you.

However, it is an act of obedience and a symbol of commitment.

The symbolism is this:

When you go down in the water you show that

You have been crucified and buried with Him,

And when you come up out of the water you show that

you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.

(See Romans chapter 6)

You have been born again.

(See John chapter 3)

Your body has become God's temple.

Your heart is where He lives.

“If a man love me, he will keep my words:

and my Father will love him,

and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him”

(John 14:23)

CY - 2009

Forgiveness is yours in Jesus.

And you belong to Him.

You were sin's slave.

But now...

You are a child of GOD!

John 1:12

"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become

children of God, even to those who believe in His name!"

what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”

(Mark 8:36)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good

works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

(Ephesians 2:8-10)

                        THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST

At the time, crucifixion was the “worst death.”  Only the worst criminals

were condemned to be crucified.  Jesus was nailed to the cross by His

hands and feet.

Each nail was 6-8 inches long.

The nails were driven into His wrist, not into His palms as is commonly

portrayed.  There is a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder.

The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into

the wrist that the tendon would tear and break, forcing Christ to use

His back muscles to support Himself so that He could breathe.

Both of His feet were nailed together, thus forcing Him to support

Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross.

Jesus could not support Himself with His legs because of the pain,

so He was forced to alternate between arching His back and then

using His legs just to continue to breathe.  Imagine the struggle,

the pain, the suffering and the courage it took to endure this

reality for over three hours.

Yes, over three hours!

Can you imagine this kind of suffering?

A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding.

Water was simply coming from His wounds.

From common images, we see wounds to His hands

and feet, even the spear wound to His side……

But do we realize His wounds were actually made in His body?

A hammer driving large nails through the wrist,

the feet overlapped and an even larger nail

hammered through His arches,

then a Roman soldier piercing His side with a spear.

Prior to all this, Jesus was whipped and beaten!

The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body!

The beating so horrific that His face was torn

and His beard ripped  from His face.

The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp.

Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out,

only water poured from His wounds.

The human adult body contains about 3 ½ liters

(just less than a gallon) of blood.

Jesus Christ poured out all 3 ½ liters of His blood.

He had three nails hammered into His members;

a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that,

a Roman soldier stabbed Him in the side with a spear.

We say all these without mentioning the humiliation as

He passed the 2 kilometers on the route to Golgotha,

carrying His own cross, Almost 30 kg of weight)!

The crowd spat in His face and threw stones at Him.

Jesus endured this experience so that our sins could be washed away
